SMP Points

Today's topic will discuss the many different ways members may earn points in the Snowman Poker League (SMP). Members should first take the steps recommended in the previous post regarding membership information verification. Once the member knows that they are using a validated ID number, they can then be assured that all points earned, and legibly recorded, will be credited to their record.

Tournament Points

Points are awarded to any member placing 16th or above at any SMP tournament. A graduated scale of points is given for each place, as well as a corresponding percentage of the points determined by the number of players in that particular tournament. Points Promotions / Benefits

In addition to receiving points by placing first thru sixteenth place at any SMP tournament, there are many more ways for members to earn points in the league. These points may qualify the member for entry into a qualifying tournament, or may be used to purchase SMP merchandise. The league currently offers SMP merchandise for purchase at all of our regional and state events. The league hopes to be able to offer the SMP merchandise for point redemption during the upcoming year.

SMP Loyalty Bucks

SMP offers several points promotions for the members. On June 1 the league began the first SMP loyalty tournament. Each member playing in any SMP tournament during the month of June will receive a "Loyalty Buck" which they can redeem for points, or for entry into the SMP loyalty tournament to be held in July.

Player Appreciation Points

In addition to loyalty bucks, player appreciation points are awarded at all new venues during their first month of play. 25 points are awarded for each tournament played at these venues if the player count is below 30. 50 points are awarded for each tournament played at these venues if the player count is greater than 30! Newsletter Sign Up

We are hoping to offer a monthly newsletter with an excel calendar of events to our members soon. Members may earn 50 points by signing up for the newsletter. Simply select the Newsletter sign up option off the Members tab on the home page. Fill out the short form and hit the submit key. Newsletter points are awarded at the end of each month.

Sit and Go / Consolation Tournaments

Many hosts offer a consolation tournament for the members who go all in early and do not win the hand. These players may participate in a secondary tournament in which the first place winner receives 25 points. Make sure you let the host know who won the tournament, and that they write down the correct member information. Sit and Go Consolation tournament points are recorded on the website as 17th place.

The Importance of Membership Number Verification

Today's topic discusses the importance of making sure your membership information is correct; this assures that your points are credited to the correct membership record. The league hopes to be able to offer the SMP merchandise for point redemption during the upcoming year. The single most important thing to remember about points is your membership number. It is important that this information be accurate so that the hosts can make sure each member receives the points that he or she has earned. Further benefits and redemption information will be posted in the future.

Understanding your SMP Membership ID Number

The SMP membership numbers are comprised of 7 alpha-numeric characters that allow the league to track your points earned at all SMP events. The first 3 characters designate the member’s home city. HOU for the Houston area. The last four characters are the member's unique id numbers. The member is responsible for making certain that their unique ID is placed next to their name on the sign out sheet for any event when the member goes out at 16th place or better. Members are also responsible for making sure they have signed in with the correct ID number at all events offering "Player Appreciation” points. The sign in sheets are used to award the appreciation points, so if the member doesn't sign in with the correct number, they may not receive the appreciation points. If the members sign in or out using someone else's number, there is a very good chance that they will succeed in giving the points to another member; therefore it is very important that the members verify their member ID number.

Verification is the recommended first step for all new members of the league. Members may verify their registration information by clicking on the "look up member ID" option off of the members tab on the SMP homepage http://www.snowmanpokerleague.com/. When the member clicks on this option they will need to enter their first and last names and date of birth. This is the only information that the league requires, and without this correct information on file members may not be awarded points. The member's unique ID number will then be displayed for the member's verification. If this is the number you use when you sign in and out of tournaments then you should now be able to audit your points using your ID number.

Every effort is made to have the results on the website as quickly as possible; however it can sometimes take up to 2 weeks for the results to be posted.

If a Member Cannot Confirm Their ID Number

If the member cannot confirm their ID number thru this method, they should contact the webmaster via email at webmaster@snowmanpokerleague.com. Send an email with your first name, last name and birth date, and we will do a manual search to try to find the error. Often the error is a transposition or a wrong key was struck during the data entry process. Most information can be corrected in a short period of time and the member will be able to verify the corrected information within a day or two.

Replacement Cards

If a member needs a replacement ID card, they may request a duplicate card by emailing the webmaster at the same address. We will try to provide a replacement card if possible.

Snowman Poker League (SMP) has been offering free to play No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments in the Houston area since August of 2005. Snowman Poker League has nearly 3000 members, 50+ tournaments held weekly at over 21 locations in the Houston Metro area. Members of the Snowman Poker League have been playing in qualification tournaments for the last year, with prizes and fun offerred at City, Regional and State levels. The league's "Main Event" aka the State Tournament will be held July 16, and one lucky/skillful member will receive a $12,000 WSOP package.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The league started a new "year" of play on May 1st. In order for the state tournament to be played just prior to the yearly WSOP event, the league's year must end on April 30th . This allows the necessary time for the final regional and state events to happen just before the beginning of the "big event " in Las Vegas every July/August.

Q3 November 1, 2006 - January 31, 2007
Q4 February 1, 2007 - April 30, 2007

Members may earn entry into the quarterly regional events by earning points at one or all of the over 50 tournaments offerred all over the Houston area every week. The top 16 finishers of each tournament earn points, as well as the winner of any "Sit-N-Go" tournament. Points and rewards will be discussed in future posts.
